Virtual Internship Programme

Bridging the gap between Mass Communication/Media Studies education and the modern communication workplace through practical learning, real-world experience and hands-on opportunities.

Programme Structure

Our Virtual Internship Programme is a 4–12 week practical learning experience that gives students the opportunity to explore real-world communication work, collaborate virtually, and build evidence of what they can do.

Virtual Department Placement

Interns are assigned to different virtual departments based on their interests, skills and learning objectives, giving them practical exposure to different areas of communication.

AI & Emerging Media Exposure

We introduce students to AI tools, emerging media and evolving digital communication practices helping them understand how technology is reshaping the communication workplace.

Digital Workplace Skills

Beyond technical skills, interns learn how to work with digital workflows, collaborate remotely, meet deadlines, receive feedback and manage project-based assignments.

Fully Virtual

Students can participate from different locations while experiencing a structured, collaborative work environment.

Career Development

The internship goes beyond content creation. Students are introduced to personal branding, portfolio development, career positioning and opportunities in the digital content economy.

Portfolio Building

Students leave with tangible work they can showcase, helping them move from “I have experience” to “Here is what I can do.”

How the Programme Works

Our Virtual Internship Programme combines structured learning, practical assignments, mentorship, collaboration and portfolio building to give interns a meaningful workplace experience.

Onboarding & Assessment

Every intern begins with an onboarding documentation process and a pre-programme needs assessment to understand their learning needs, interests and development goals. A post-programme assessment helps measure their growth.

Weekly Learning & Assignments

Interns meet weekly to review completed tasks, receive feedback and take on new assignments. They are also rotated across different units to expose them to a range of communication and media functions

Supervision & Progress Tracking

Supervisors provide guidance, review assignments and track each intern's progress throughout the programme, helping them stay accountable and learn from their work.

Learning Bites Webinars

Interns participate in Learning Bites Webinars and practical training sessions facilitated by experienced journalists, media professionals and other industry practitioners.

Collaboration & Continuous Communication

Through a dedicated WhatsApp collaboration space, interns receive updates, share ideas, ask questions and stay connected throughout the programme.

Building a Portfolio

Every completed task and project is organised in an individual Google Drive portfolio folder, giving interns a growing collection of tangible evidence of their skills and capabilities

The Final Showcase

The programme culminates in a Virtual Internship Final Projects Showcase, where interns present and celebrate the work they have created during the six-week experience.

We do not just want interns to say they gained experience. We want them to have something tangible to show for it.
